The government has announced today to pull our troops out of Iraq, to start from July 21st 2009. They say that the task, after nearly 6 years, is nearing an end and the Iraqi troops and police can, or will, be able to handle the situation by next year or shortly after.
The British troops will be reduced to 400 from the current 4,100 to allow for continuous training of their troops. With two more personnel killed, the total being 178, already this week and the many more personnel before them it is about time.
A memorial wall built in Iraq, that has the names of the British dead on it, will be dismantled and brought back to the UK so that families can have a permanent memorial over here.
I wonder whether it is all worth this sacrifice though. When the government is refusing to have an inquiry into how we were dragged into this war, only to find that the 'weapons of mass destruction' were not found after considerable searches by a special team sent to Iraq.
Will Iraq once again breed anarchy in the region and will Iran go in and incur their own brand of Islamic fundamentalism and women will have to have their faces covered, there will be no women and young girls going to school and their will be breeding of terrorists to spread death and destruction around the world.
Look out UK we have large numbers of Islamic Sleepers in this country, as can be seen by the Muslim doctor now imprisoned for 36 years for running a terrorist cell and trying to blow up various places around Britain including Glasgow Airport where his partner set himself alight because he didn't want to pay for his crimes but be blessed in 'heaven'.
