A Shadow Politician Arrested for 9 Hours.

There was an arrest and a 9 hour detention for one of the UKs Conservative Shadow Politicians after a rather dubious case of leaks from the Home Office. It is understood that a junior official has been suspended on suspicion leaking sensitive information. Whether this is the same case has yet to be established.

Mr Green was arrested by the police on suspicion of
"conspiring to commit misconduct in a public office" and "aiding and abetting, counselling or procuring misconduct in a public office".

It has been reported, BBC News Web-site 28th November 2008, that there have been a number of leaks of information from the Home Office, such as:
  1. An illegal immigrant had been employed as a cleaner in the House of Commons
  2. The Home Secretary knew licences had been granted to security guards who were illegal immigrants.
  3. The government was also concerned about the leak of a letter in which the home secretary warned that a recession could lead to a rise in crime.
It was also reported that Mr Cameron, Boris Johnson and Michael Martin, the Commons Speaker, new of the arrest but the labour party prime minister Gordon Brown and the home office minister did not until after the arrest, which to me is incredulous.

Does this mean that the police are acting out of hand without the Home Office knowing anything about these matters, particularly to a high ranking politician, even a shadow minister. Or does it mean there is a political which hunt out to get a liberal politician doing his job.

When it comes down to it I would rather know about information about illegal immigration and why it is so high, why there are illegal immigrants working in the Home Office and, more probably, in other government and local council offices
