Prince Charles & 'Defender of THE Faith'

In the past, not least during his 60th birthday celebrations, Prince Charles has come out in his views of being defender of faith instead of Defender Of The Faith. [sic]

[You must know by now any title I don't believe in is written without capitalisation. Nick]

In the early part of the 14th Century (around 1530) the title 'Defender Of The Faith' was given to Henry VIII by Pope Gregory for his dealings and denunciation of Martin Luther and his Protestant Church, amongst others.

It was also in 1533 that Henry VIII wanted to divorce Catherine of Aragon to marry Anne Boleyn as Catherine had only conceived a daughter, Mary, and didn't have a male heir. Anne produced two females one eventually being Queen Elizabeth I, before being beheaded for adultery. The rest this story can be read in other places.

One reason why England became an Anglican country was that Henry VIII wanted to divorce Catherine to wed the pregnant Anne. He was denied by Pope Clement VII and the only way Henry could get what he wanted, was to turn this country's faith from Roman Catholic to an Anglican 'Church of England' State by using laws, and his powers, to make England a country overseen by an English Monarch who was Head of State, Defender of The Faith.

This situation lasted until Charles I went to a Civil War with Cromwell and Parliament. Charles I lost the Civil War and Cromwell and Parliament removed the kings head. We then became a Parliamentary State and, eventually, after years of wrangling in Parliament, with King Charles II Head of State and Defender Of The Faith.

We, the English people, have had many situations in the latter half of the 20th century, where Parliament i.e. the labour party, has wanted to dissolve the governance of the Queen as Head of State, as many socialist and communist countries have done so around the world.

I firmly believe Prince Charles, in his naive way, is falling deftly into their trap.

By making England a multi-cultural society, the labour party is knowingly reducing standards to accommodate the so called ethnic minorities, with their many diverse religions and mother tongues to relieve the English of their own high standards of morality and religeon.

Even Rowen Williams has been involved in talking about integrating Sharia Law into English Law. Will we see next the wearing of muslim headdress by English women fearful of Sharia Law?

Some say that some of Jewish Laws are integrated into our system, but Jewish Law is not as harsh as Sharia Law and not so brutal.

Prince Charles must look at these cultures as Head of State, but I believe firmly in the upholding of the Church of England and the Defender of THE Faith.
